Write it on the Run
The Oz Hardy Experience
Sittin’ on this porch, watchin’ the sun slip up,
Got a half cup of coffee and a heart full of grounds.
Years flowed by like a dry river bed,
I’ve scrawled some pages, both full and light.
Filled ‘em all with laughs, pain, and sleepless nights.
Some written black as my deepest fears,
Some written red with the blood of my tears,
Others in blue, the days on a calm mill pond,
And a few blank ones, just asking me why.
[Chorus]
Gotta run fast, Gotta go hard
Write it on the run.
Gotta run fast, Gotta go hard
Many more colors n’ strokes to go.
Gotta run fast, Gotta go hard
Not gonna quit until every page is full.
Gotta run fast….
Write it on the run!
[Verse 2]
Reading back, on the letters I’ve drawn,
From the highs of a bird to the lows of a snake,
Each stroke of my pen left an indelible mark.
The ink’s getting low, the road getting short.
Gotta fill it up and make the moments last.
But more than the endings, it’s the journey between.
This unwritten is calling, be fast and come to me.
[Chorus]
Gotta run fast, Gotta go hard
Write it on the run.
Gotta run fast, Gotta go hard
Many more colors n’ strokes to go.
Gotta run fast, Gotta go hard
Not gonna quit until every page is full.
Gotta run fast….
Write it on the run!
[Bridge]
Life’s too short to hold a dry pen.
Time’s the ink, every second a dash,
So I’ll pour out my heart, make my moments last.
I’ll fill every space, turn the pages with pride,
I’ll take a deep breath, let inspiration soar,
Every heartbeat shouts, “Take your risks. TAKE YOUR TIME!”
[chorus]
Gotta run fast, Gotta go hard
Write it on the run.
Gotta run fast, Gotta go hard
Many more colors n’ strokes to go.
Gotta run fast, Gotta go hard
Not gonna quit until every page is full.
Gotta run fast….
Write it on the run!
[Outro]
So here I stand with my ink on my hand,
I promise myself, I’ll fill every line,
The pages ahead are the fight of my life.
With every last stroke, I’ll light up my life.
Gotta run fast. Gotta go hard.
Write it on the run!
